TEDx New York 2/1/13
The 200 year plan, and the concept of legacy discussed in these two TED Talks prompted me think about the long term importance of recycling. Most of the time when I talk about recycling, I am thinking about putting the right thing in the right bin or how many tons of recycling were collected last year year. Though we expend a considerable amount of energy protecting ourselves from "the elements", humankind's destiny is integrally tied to the health of the natural environment. We are part of nature's delicate balance.

These talks prompted me think about why recycling is important in the long term. My 200 year plan is to do what I can to be sure that there are plenty of natural resources available to feed, clothe, house, and build technology to improve the quality of people's lives in 2213 by encouraging people to save energy and natural resources, by composting, reusing and recycling as much as possible today.
